Island Health’s Department of Emergency Medicine invites certified emergency physicians to apply to join our progressive, collegial group in our oceanfront communities across Vancouver Island.

We are currently looking to hire full-time and part-time physicians in our close-knit coastal towns as well as our urban centres. Populations range from 5,000 to 390,000. The successful candidates will enjoy flexibility in scheduling at each of the positions.

Applicants must hold CCFP-EM, FRCPC Emergency Medicine or ABEM, and be eligible for full licensure or USA certified licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC.
 
Affiliation with the University of British Columbia’s Island Medical Program provides teaching opportunities to medical students and residents. 

Benefits

May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA), including (subject to change): 

  • Recruitment Incentive:  up to a maximum of $10,000 (pro-rated based on FTE)
  • Relocation: up to a maximum of $15,000 (amount based on location relocating from)
  • Flat fee: $6,373.80 -$12,110.22 (varies on community)
  • Fee Premium: 4.2 - 7.98% (varies on community)
  • CME: $2,200/annum year 3-4 and $4,400/annum after 4 years in the community. (varies on community)
